About
Originally from Porto Alegre, Brazil, Caio is a photographer, History teacher and received a Bachelor and his Master’s of History from Pontifical Catholic University of Rio Grande do Sul (PUCRS) focusing on visual studies and history of photography, with a small participation in University of Manchester (England) and Universidad Nacional de Córdoba (Argentina). He is currently a PhD. student focusing on photo documentary and oral history from Brazil during the end of military dictatorship (1980-1990). His interests vary from how photojournalism in Brazil changed perceptions of social facts, and how the photo documentary amplified the trajectory from many photographers. He is currently interviewing photographers, such as Sebastião Salgado, Maureen Bisilliat, Carlos Carvalho, João Roberto Ripper and many others, to understand their trajectories, perceptions and their visual contributions.
