About

Sim Hinman Wan studied early modern art and architecture under the supervision of Inaugural Circle Professor Martha Pollak. His dissertation, “Intertwined Genealogies: Dutch, Chinese, and Colonial Indonesian Architecture of Philanthropy, 1640–1740,” received the UIC Annual Outstanding Dissertation Award and the Provost’s Graduate Research Award. This multi-site project was granted the International Dissertation Research Fellowship by the Social Science Research Council and the Mellon Fellowship for Dissertation Research in Original Sources by the Council on Library and Information Resources.

Dr Wan is currently Assistant Professor of the History of Architecture in the Huckabee College of Architecture at Texas Tech University.
