About
Hi I'm Rumzi. I come to UIC with a background in architecture, language and cultural preservation. I hold a BS degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, have taken Architecture graduate coursework at the University of Oregon as well as linguistic courses at PennWest and history courses at Harvard University. When not at UIC I work as a substitute teacher, linguist, and tailored suiting stylist. My goal is to become a specialist in the influence of Arab-Islamic art, architecture, and culture on the Island of Sicily in specific and in the Southern Mediterranean in general. I am currently learning Italian at Italcultura in Chicago and plan to emigrate to Italy following the MA program to complete doctoral studies and work as an educator and preservationist practitioner.
