Raquel Flecha Vega (PhD candidate) has been awarded a fellowship for AY 2023-24 from the Mellon Foundation and the Inter-University Program for Latino Research through UIC’s LALS program to support the completion of her dissertation “The Identity Biennial and the Politics of the Interstice.” Her dissertation focuses on the artworks contributed by Willie Varela, Miguel Gandert, and Andrea Fraser to the era-defining Whitney Biennial in 1993.
